Three different pigments create color perception in the retina. If there is a deficiency in these pigments, which are responsible for red, blue and green, the eye cannot perceive colors properly and sees them differently.
In color blindness, all colors may appear faded, or a single color may not be seen clearly. The most common type of color blindness is confusion between red and green. Color blind people do not see the world in black and white. They see some colors as pale or different from what a normal eye sees. It is possible to reveal color blindness. One of these is the test below. The person must perceive the numbers on these color plates correctly, otherwise color blindness may occur.
Amsler Grid Test
By closing one eye; Close-up glasses, if available, should be worn on the other eye.
Approach the screen within reading distance and look at the point in the middle of the diagram. Without taking your eyes off the center point, all lines should be seen equally clearly and smoothly. If there are breaks, distortions, fading or dark areas in the lines, they should be noted. This examination should be repeated at regular intervals. If a different situation is observed compared to the previous control, you should come for an examination immediately.
